Jacob (JJ) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 4 years old

Extreme thirst in the middle of winter alerted Jacob’s parents that something wasn’t quite right. Aged just 4 years old at the time, his diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes had a massive initial impact, but it has never stopped Jacob (JJ) from being a kid.

JJ is an incredible budding sportsman who has shown a real talent in both rugby and motorcross. It’s this love of sports that encouraged him to go on to an insulin pump this year, something he’d originally thought would get in the way.

JJ lives in the Waikato with his Mum, Dad and siblings and manages his diabetes incredibly for his age. JJ and his family are determined to raise awareness of the condition and inspire others to keep achieving their dreams.
