At 26 weeks gestation our brave ambassador Milla was diagnosed with a rare heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. Milla had no history of congenital heart defects, other than a distant cousin, this diagnosis was shocking and terrifying for her expecting parents.
Since birth, Milla has had three open heart surgeries and six catheters. Milla will require ongoing medical management, and Catheter surgery will just be another part of her life, as will MRIs and echos. These are things she is bound to take in her stride as she does with everything that comes her way, including managing her condition.
Milla is now a thriving 12 year, living in Papamoa with her Mum, Dad, Brother & sister. She goes to Te Puke Intermediate and is absolutely loving it. She will continue to receive treatment up at Starship, but she is otherwise well.
