Fundraise Online

Fundraise online

One of the easiest, most efficient and effective ways to spread the word about your fundraising and gather donations is online.

How to get started:

Once you’ve decided what you want to do for your fundraising – whether it be a physical challenge or personal challenge, an event or anything else, it’s time to set up your fundraising page!

Explain why you’re doing this and why you’re potential donors should support you and Cure Kids.

Set your fundraising target and personalise your page.

Share! Make sure you tell everyone you know what your doing, share it on social media and email your page out to your networks.

Tips & Tricks:

Start early! We have a tendency to leave things to the last minute, but the longer you give yourself to fundraise, the less stressful it will be.

Update the “your story” section. Make your story personal and let people know why you’ve decided to fundraise for Cure Kids.

Give yourself a head start by donating to your own page. Sometimes people are unsure about how much to donate, and if your first donation is for $10, they might continue the same way, when it could be $30 or $50 instead!

Add a profile pic. Most of the people who donate on your fundraising page will do so because they know you and want to support the amazing thing that you are doing. Remind them it’s you with a good pic.

Make the most of your social media – share what you’re doing on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter so more people know what you’re up to.

Use your page to post updates about your fundraising, and remember to thank everyone personally who donates.

Ask more than once. People are busy, so you may have to follow up your initial ask. We know it’s hard asking people to donate, but it’s been proven that on average, you have to ask three times before people donate. We recommend taking a different approach each time – the first time, let them know what you’re doing, why you picked Cure Kids and what it means to you. The second time, tell them about one of our ambassadors [link to ambassador profiles] and what a difference their support will mean. Closer to the end of your fundraiser, let people know how close your target is and how much you need to raise to hit it!

Email trumps social media when it comes to asking for support. It’s much more personal than social media, and you have more space to talk about what you’re doing.

Chat to people – don’t forgot to talk to people about what you’re doing, and why when you see them or talk to them.

Ideas:

Do something crazy. People love feeling like they contributed to something – shaving your head or skydiving if you reach your target is a great incentive to encourage people to donate.

Organise an event – hold a quiz night / bingo night / go bowling and ask people to donate to be part of it. It’s a great way to catch up with friends and everyone loves being part of something!
