Cure Kids and A Better Start contestable granting round is now open
Expressions of Interest for the 2020/2021 Cure Kids and A Better Start Contestable Granting Round are now open. Deadline for applications is 17 February, 2021
The New Zealand government’s National Science Challenge, A Better Start: E Tipu e Rea, National Science Challenge is pleased to partner with Cure Kids, New Zealand’s largest independent funder of research for child health.
We aim to jointly fund high-quality, mission-led research to improve child and youth wellbeing, specifically in the areas of healthy weight, successful learning, and mental health and resilience, and are looking for research that is designed to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions which directly target the three theme areas, with a focus on equitable outcomes for Māori and Pasifika communities:
A total funding pool of approximately $4 million (exclusive of GST) is available for allocation. Grants of up to $500,000 will be available for up to 2 years’ duration, and will be announced in July 2021.
Grants will be awarded across the three research theme areas:
- Healthy Weight
- Successful Learning
- Mental Resilience
