Jason Turuwhenua is a Senior Research Fellow working for the Auckland Bioengineering Insitute and the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland.
Jason’s background is in vision, and he is most inspired when he can apply engineering techniques to solve real-world problems. This is particularly true where the outcomes could have a direct benefit to clinical practice, patients and their families.
Jason is presently leading a cross-disciplinary research project in which they are using a computer-based tablet device to identify visual acuity problems in young children. This is of particular importance in detecting Amblyopia or lazy eye, which is a condition where presently there are no reliable objective techniques available.
Help fund researchers like Jason.
Every bit helps.
