Bequests

Leaving your legacy of health for our children

Leaving a bequest to Cure Kids – New Zealand’s largest charitable child health research funder – can make a lifetime of difference for our children living with heart-breaking health conditions.

Our world-class child health researchers have made many significant life-changing and life-saving discoveries since we were founded nearly 50 years ago, but there is still much work to be done. The pioneering research we fund is reliant on private donations and philanthropy from New Zealanders who share our vision for a healthy childhood for all of our children.

A powerful means of donating

At Cure Kids we believe that a gift in your Will is one of the most powerful means of donating. It is a statement – a declaration; you plan to leave this world knowing that your legacy will help improve the lives of children living with serious diseases and health conditions for generations to come. Over the past 48 years, we have invested more than $40 million into world-class New Zealand research that has helped improve and save the lives of millions of children both here and around the world. We have funded, or are currently funding, research that is targeting treatments and cures for inherited heart conditions, childhood cancers, respiratory conditions, child and adolescent mental health, among many others. We rely on donations and can only continue this work through the generosity of people like you.

“It makes me so proud to be part of a team that supports committed researchers who are leading the way with innovative, ground-breaking discoveries, solutions and support for children and young people affected by challenging health conditions. After all, everyone deserves a healthy childhood.

Please consider leaving a gift in your Will to help us achieve our mission.”

– Frances Benge, CEO, Cure Kids

Our history of breakthroughs

Since 1971, we have supported medical breakthroughs that have helped save children’s lives, and changed the way childhood health conditions are diagnosed and treated. Please click here to read about some of our key breakthroughs.

An unprecedented funding collaboration

In 2018, we formed an unprecedented funding collaboration with another charity, to fund a New Zealand-first translational research project. Cure Kids and the Child Cancer Foundation Foundation jointly committed $1.25 million to the Precision Paediatric Cancer Project. This will enable children with difficult-to-treat and relapsed cancers to receive a new type of genetic testing and subsequently more targeted treatments here in New Zealand.
